What to do before returning iPhones to TCIT
When a staff member who is leaving CPM turns in their work iPhone, it is imperative that the following steps are taken to ensure the TC Support team will be able to access the device and set it up for a new person to use.
- Make sure Find My iPhone is turned off.
- If this is left on and TCIT doesn’t have your Apple ID password, the device will go into activation lock, which makes it very difficult for TCIT to prove ownership of the device to Apple.
- To turn off Find My iPhone, go to Settings, then select your Apple ID at the top. Select Find My, then Find My iPhone, and make sure the Find My iPhone toggle switch is turned off (NOT green). You may need to enter your Apple ID password or phone passcode to complete the process to turn off Find My iPhone.

- Wipe the iPhone before returning it.
- To factory reset your device, please follow these instructions on Apple’s support page: How to factory reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
- Provide both your passcode AND your Apple ID password to your supervisor.
- This is especially important if you are unable to wipe the iPhone before returning it, as your supervisor will then be asked to provide your passcode and Apple ID credentials to TCIT. Can’t remember your Apple ID password? Please follow these instructions on Apple’s support page to reset it: If you forgot your Apple ID password.
