How to force a group policy update

  1. Open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Type or enter “CMD” in the Search bar.
  3. Select “Command Prompt” from the search results.
  4. In the CMD window, enter (or copy and paste) the following text EXACTLY as it appears here and press Enter: %windir%\system32\cmd.exe /k gpupdate /force
  5. A message that says “Updating policy…” should appear.
  6. When it finishes, enter “Y” to restart your computer.

Note: As long as you see the part at the bottom that asks you to enter a “Y” or “N” to restart, it was successful!
