How can I forward emails sent to my OU address to my DHS account?

If you receive emails at your OU address but primarily use your DHS account when accessing Microsoft Outlook and Teams, there is a way you can set up mail forwarding so that all of your OU emails will be sent to your DHS address going forward. Follow the instructions below to set up mail forwarding from OU to DHS.

Please note you must use Outlook for the Web — not your desktop Outlook application — to set up mail forwarding. Once you’ve set it up, your forwarded emails should be accessible from your desktop Outlook app, but the initial change must be configured in the web version.

  1. In your web browser, go to outlook.office.com and sign in with your OU credentials.
    • You may have to authenticate your login request by approving the PingID notification on your mobile device.
  2. Once you’ve opened Outlook for the Web, select Settings (the gear icon) in the upper-right corner next to your profile icon.

  1. When the Settings pop-up window opens, go to the Mail tab on the left and then select Forwarding from the list (near the bottom).
    • Alternatively, you may type “Forwarding” into the Search bar and press Enter.

  1. Select the toggle button labeled “Enable Forwarding” to turn on this option, and then enter your DHS email address in the field that appears below.
    • It is recommended that you also select the checkbox labeled “Keep a copy of forwarded messages.” This will ensure that all emails sent to your OU inbox will remain in your OU inbox in addition to being forwarded.

  1. Select Save in the lower-right corner of the pop-up window.
  2. That’s it! Going forward, any new emails sent to your OU account should be automatically forwarded to your DHS account.

Please note there may be a slight delay between when you change your forwarding settings and when they take effect. OU cannot guarantee successful email delivery to outside email addresses.
