How to install Zoom
If you have not yet downloaded the Zoom app, follow the instructions below to install it. If you have already installed Zoom on your computer, go to How to join a Zoom meeting.
The process of installing Zoom may look slightly different depending on the type of device you are using. Find your device type in the list below and scroll down to read that section:
- Windows desktop or laptop
- Mac desktop or laptop
- Chromebook laptop
- Android smartphone
- iPhone or iPad
Install Zoom on a Windows desktop or laptop
- Open your web browser and go to zoom.us/download. Under “Zoom Desktop Client,” click the blue Download button.

- The Zoom Installer file (“ZoomInstallerFull.exe”) should be saved automatically to your Downloads folder. Open your Downloads folder.

- In your Downloads folder, double-click the Zoom Installer file name to begin installation.

- If you receive a prompt asking if you want to allow Zoom to make changes to your device, click Yes. If not, go to the next step.
- A pop-up window will appear with a progress bar. Wait for Zoom to finish installing.

- Once Zoom has finished installing, you will see the Zoom startup window. Click Sign In, then enter the email and password you used to create your account (or log in with your organization’s SSO).

- Congratulations! You’ve installed Zoom. Go to How to join a Zoom meeting.
Install Zoom on a Mac desktop or laptop
- Open your web browser and go to zoom.us/download. Under “Zoom Desktop Client,” click the blue Download button.

- If you receive a prompt asking if you want to allow downloads from Zoom, click Allow. If not, go to the next step.

- The Zoom Installer file (“zoomusInstallerFull.pkg”) should be saved automatically to your Downloads folder. Go to Finder and open your Downloads folder.

- Once the file has finished downloading, double-click the Zoom Installer file name to begin installation.

- Follow the prompts to complete the installation process. You may be prompted to enter your password to allow installation; this will be the same password you use to log in to your computer.


- A progress bar will appear as Zoom is being installed. Wait for Zoom to finish installing.


- Once Zoom has finished installing, you will see the Zoom startup window. Click Sign In, then enter the email and password you used to create your account (or log in with your organization’s SSO).

- Congratulations! You’ve installed Zoom. Go to How to join a Zoom meeting.
Install Zoom on a Chromebook laptop
- In the lower-left corner of your screen, select the Launcher (circle icon), then select the up arrow in the center of the screen.

- Open the Play Store.

- Once you’ve opened the Google Play Store, type Zoom for Chrome – PWA into the search bar, then press Enter.

- Before installing, check to make sure you’ve got the right app. You should see a blue Zoom icon as shown below. If you’re having trouble finding the app in the Play Store, click the following link: Zoom for Chrome – PWA.

- Click Install.

- If you receive a prompt asking you to complete your Google account setup or add payment information, click Skip.
- As Zoom is being installed, your screen will say “Pending” with a green circle surrounding the Zoom icon. Wait for Zoom to finish installing.
- Once Zoom has finished installing, click Open to launch Zoom.

- When you open Zoom, you will see the Zoom startup window. Click Sign In, then enter the email and password you used to create your account (or log in with your organization’s SSO).

- Congratulations! You’ve installed Zoom. Go to How to join a Zoom meeting.
Install Zoom on Android smartphone
- Locate the Play Store icon on your screen. (If it is not on your Home screen, swipe up until you see the list of apps installed on your device. Scroll through the list of apps until you locate the Play Store icon.) Tap the icon to open the Google Play Store.

- Once you’ve opened the Google Play Store, tap the Apps icon at the bottom.

- Type Zoom into the search bar at the top, then tap the search (magnifying glass) button on your keypad.

- Before installing, check to make sure you’ve got the right app. You should see a blue Zoom icon as shown below. If you’re having trouble finding the app in the App Store, click the following link: Zoom – One Platform to Connect.

- Tap Install.
- As Zoom is being installed, your screen will say “Pending” with a blue circle surrounding the Zoom icon. Wait for Zoom to finish installing.

- Tap the Open button to launch Zoom.

- When you open Zoom, you will see the Zoom startup window. Tap Sign In, then enter the email and password you used to create your account (or log in with your organization’s SSO).

- Congratulations! You’ve installed Zoom. Go to How to join a Zoom meeting.
Install Zoom on an iPhone or iPad
- Locate the App Store icon on your screen. (If it is not on your Home screen, swipe down until you see the Search bar appear, then type App Store.) Tap the App Store icon to open the Apple App Store.

- Once you’ve opened the Apple App Store, tap the Search (magnifying glass) icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

- Type Zoom into the search bar at the top, then tap the blue search button on your keypad.

- Before installing, check to make sure you’ve got the right app. You should see a blue Zoom icon as shown below. If you’re having trouble finding the app in the App Store, click the following link: Zoom – One Platform to Connect.

- Tap the blue Get button to begin installation.

- A circle with a progress bar will appear as Zoom is being installed. Wait for Zoom to finish installing.

- Tap the Open button to launch Zoom.

- When you open Zoom, you will see the Zoom startup window. Tap Sign In, then enter the email and password you used to create your account (or log in with your organization’s SSO).

- Congratulations! You’ve installed Zoom. Go to How to join a Zoom meeting.
