How do I find my computer name?

If you are experiencing trouble with your physical computer or your virtual desktop (such as Alfheim), it is helpful to TC Support staff if you provide your computer’s name when you submit a help ticket. Follow the instructions in this guide to learn how to find your computer name.

  1. Open your File Explorer from the toolbar on the desktop.

  1. Right-click on This PC.

  1. Select Properties at the bottom of the dropdown menu.

  1. Next to Device name, you will find your computer’s name.

    Continue to the next step if you are using a VDI (such as Alfheim) and need to find its computer name.

  1. Locating the computer name can also be done inside Alfheim or other virtual desktops. Your physical computer name and your Alfheim computer name will be different, but they can be found using the same method outlined in the previous steps.

    The screenshot below is an example of the computer name in Alfheim.
