Installing VMware Horizon (softphone)

How to install VMware Horizon Client for Windows

These instructions should be carried out directly on the computer you are using at home, and not on any remote desktop session or remote computer at the office.

  1. Go to https://mydesknor.ou.edu.

  1. Select Install VMware Horizon Client.
  2. Found under “VMware Horizon Client for Windows,” select Go to downloads.

  1. Select Download.

  1. Open the VMware Horizon Installer and select Yes in the dialog box that opens to allow the installer to make changes to your computer.
The .exe file is shown in in the browser downloads.
  1. Select Agree & Install.
Upon launching, it says "You must agree to the Privacy Agreement and License Terms before you can install the product." Underneath is a button for "Agree and Install".
  1. Select Finish and, finally, select Restart Now to complete the installation.

  1. Open the new VMware Horizon Client icon (shortcut) on your desktop.

  1. Select New Server and enter “mydesknor.ou.edu” in the Connection Server field.

  1. Log in using your 4×4 OU credentials. This will push a notification to your phone requesting authentication via your PingID security app that you must accept.
Enter your DUO Security user name and passcode.
  1. Double-click on the “OU-HELP” icon and, at the blue NOTICE TO USERS screen, select OK.

  1. Several minutes later, your virtual desktop should appear.
